Can I contribute without giving money?

Yes. List items for sale and route proceeds to campaigns. Turn things you don't need into impact.

Yes. You can list items for sale and route the proceeds to campaigns.

Not everyone has disposable income to give. But most people have things they don't need anymore. OpenGiving lets you turn those items into impact.

How It Works

  1. List an item — upload photos, set a price, describe what you're selling
  2. Choose a campaign — pick the campaign that will receive funds
  3. Set the split — decide how much goes to the campaign (20-100%)
  4. Ship when sold — handle the transaction with the buyer

When your item sells, the campaign portion routes automatically. You've contributed without spending a dollar.

What You Can List

Almost anything you'd sell in a marketplace:

  • Clothing and accessories
  • Electronics and gadgets
  • Home goods and furniture
  • Books and media
  • Sports equipment
  • Art and collectibles
  • Handmade items
  • And more

Benefits

For you:

  • Clear out items you don't need
  • Keep some or all of the proceeds (your choice)
  • Build your GivingProfile
  • Support causes you care about

For campaigns:

  • Expands their supporter base
  • Reaches people who can't give cash
  • Creates ongoing engagement

For buyers:

  • Gets items they want
  • Automatically supports causes
  • No extra effort required

Example

You have clothes you don't wear anymore. Instead of donating to a thrift store, you:

  1. List them on OpenGiving
  2. Choose a campaign to support
  3. Set 50% to go to the campaign
  4. Someone buys your items
  5. The campaign gets funds, you get some money back, and the buyer gets new clothes

Everyone wins. No cash contribution required.
