No. Shipping is handled directly between buyers and sellers.

OpenGiving is a peer-to-peer marketplace. When you buy something, you're buying from another person — not from us. That means shipping, returns, and item condition are arranged directly between you and the seller.

How It Works

  1. Buyer purchases an item through the OpenGiving marketplace
  2. Seller receives notification with buyer's shipping information
  3. Seller ships the item using their preferred carrier
  4. Buyer receives the item and confirms delivery

What OpenGiving Handles

We manage the payment infrastructure:

  • Secure checkout through Stripe
  • Automatic fund routing — the campaign portion goes to the campaign, the seller portion goes to the seller
  • Transaction records on both buyer and seller GivingProfiles

  • Accurate item descriptions
  • Timely shipping
  • Communication with buyers
  • Returns (at their discretion)

Tips for Buyers

  • Review seller profiles before purchasing
  • Check item descriptions carefully
  • Message sellers with questions before buying
  • Confirm delivery when items arrive
